Senior Router

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Science in Meteorology

  • High attention to detail

  • Strong critical thinking skills

  • Strong math skills

  • Ability to handle high pressure and fast-paced situations with professionalism and expedience

  • Team player

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Top-notch knowledge and minimum of 2 years experience in all global routing and weather forecasting situations

  • Ability to distribute workflow to other employees

  • Ability to review and contribute to professional development of other Marine Forecasters/Routers

  • Shift work including weekends/holidays.

  • Ability to make decisive decisions and communicate those decisions to a wide variety of clients (masters, operators, C-Suite)

 DUTIES INCLUDE

  • Assist and help lead the forecasting and routing needs of the Operations Department

  • Communicate with vessel captains regarding their forecasts, and routing decisions

  • Determine and optimize vessels’ routes, including the most difficult routing situations

  • Work with proprietary software to track vessel forecasts and other data along oceanic voyages

  • Heavy use of software applications and the Internet

  • Ability to work under time constraints and stay focused and sharp

  • Providing superior customer service to clients worldwide

  • Be a resource for all Marine Forecasters, Routers, and clients to ask questions and consult on difficult routing situations

  • Actively assist in training, review, and professional development of Marine Forecaster and Router positions

  • Distribute workflow to Marine Forecaster and Routers based on abilities

  • Fill in for Deputy Director when needed to ensure (safety of life at sea, work is distributed and completed, smooth transition of shifts)

  • Actively provide and contribute ideas for improving efficiency and operational tools

  • Assists as needed with claims and rebuttal work as well as company projects

  • Assist Deputy Director with other assigned work (including charter party claim work, performance reports, misc projects)

Router

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Science in Meteorology

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong understanding of global geography with an emphasis on ocean basins and shipping ports

  • Demonstrated experience in the determination and quality control of all trans-ocean and tropical cyclone routing

  • Demonstrated experience in marine forecasting and routing minimum of 1year.

  • Eager to gain further experience in handling all global routing situations and communicating those decisions with masters.

  • Shift work including weekends/holidays.

DUTIES INCLUDE

  • Assist in global forecasting and routing needs of the Operations Department

  • Communicate with vessel captains regarding forecasts, and routing decisions

  • Determine and optimize vessels’ routes

Marine Forecaster

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Science in Meteorology

  • High attention to detail

  • Strong critical thinking skills

  • Strong math skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Team player

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong understanding of global geography with an emphasis on ocean basins and shipping ports

  • Knowledge and experience in basic marine forecasting

  • Eager to learn marine routing principles and develop a career in the maritime industry

  • Shift work including weekends/holidays.

DUTIES INCLUDE

  • Assist in the forecasting needs of the Operations Department

  • Communicate with vessel captains regarding forecasts where routing advice is not required

  • Work with proprietary software to track vessel and weather along oceanic voyages

  • Heavy use of software applications and the Internet

  • Ability to work under time constraints and stay focused and sharp

  • Providing superior customer service to clients worldwide

  • Training on marine routing principles and preparing route recommendations

  • Further growth in knowledge of global weather patterns, including more difficult situations such as tropics, icebergs, and ice accretion

  • Professional development to advance into further Marine Forecaster positions involving routing

Meteorological Technician

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Meteorology

  • Strong understanding of global geography with an emphasis on ocean basins and shipping ports

  • Ability to efficiently locate and plot latitude/longitude points across the globe

  • Eager to learn and develop a career in the maritime industry

  • Shift work including weekends/holidays.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Review, evaluate, quality control and enter vessel data provided by ship captains from all around the world

  • Communicate with vessel captains regarding their vessel data and routing/forecast decisions

  • Work with proprietary software to track vessel data along oceanic voyages

  • Heavy use of software applications and the Internet

  • Ability to work under time constraints and stay focused and sharp

  • Providing superior customer service to clients worldwide

  • Training on marine forecasting and learning of global weather patterns

  • Training on preparing route recommendations and forecasts for vessels worldwide

  • Professional development to advance into further Marine Forecaster positions quickly
